Colors on an M2 Pro with a Pro Display XDR match that display on a PC
A Pro Display XDR on Apple Silicon showed every color oversaturated. A change merged into quattro maps sRGB into a wide-gamut display's gamut, and on an M2 Pro the colors match that display on a PC. The built-in panel stays on sRGB.
On an Apple Silicon Mac, a Pro Display XDR showed every color oversaturated. The same display looks right connected to a PC. The Mac sends the display its native gamut, and Hyprland can't tag the signal as sRGB, so sRGB content reaches a P3 panel unconverted.
Hyprland maps sRGB into the gamut each display's EDID reports, on Apple Silicon. A wide-gamut display is covered. An sRGB display is left alone, and so is a machine that is not Apple Silicon, where the conversion would happen twice. The built-in panel has no EDID, so it stays on sRGB.
On an M2 Pro with an XDR, colors match how the display looks on a PC. After a reload the XDR runs on edid and the built-in panel stays on srgb. It is a workaround for the Asahi display driver, and it should come out once the driver handles color. The pull request merged into quattro.
