Wildcat Lake's Intel Graphics name installs the hardware video driver
On a Core 5 320, streaming 4K YouTube to a 6K display left Chromium's renderer at ~91% of a core while the GPU's video engine stayed idle. A change merged into quattro matches the generic Intel Graphics name.
On a Core 5 320, streaming 4K YouTube to a 6K display left Chromium's renderer at ~91% of a core while the GPU's video engine stayed idle. The installer did not match Wildcat Lake's GPU name, so the Intel media driver was never installed and the video was decoded on the CPU. A change merged into quattro matches the generic Intel Graphics name.
On that Core 5 320, with the driver installed, ffmpeg decodes 4K VP9 and 4K AV1 through VA-API with 0 decode errors. The same match covers future GPUs that lspci names the same way.
