Zenbook A16 UX3607OA speakers gain ASUS's Windows voicing
A change merged into quattro makes the Zenbook A16's speakers and microphones work, with ASUS's Windows voicing, by installing asus-zenbook-a16-audio on a Qualcomm machine whose DMI product name contains UX3607OA.
The ASUS Zenbook A16, model UX3607OA with the Snapdragon X2 Elite, has no sound under Omarchy. The speaker sink has four channels, one WSA8845 amplifier each: woofers on FL/FR and tweeters on RL/RR. On Linux every driver gets the full band.
The graph applies ASUS's Dolby speaker voicing for this laptop, a 3 kHz crossover, and a 100 Hz high-pass that ASUS's curve does not have.
David Heinemeier Hansson measured it on the UX3607OA, electrically, with the speakers muted. The match to the design was 0.04 dB RMS. He wrote that, by ear on this laptop, it is clearly better than the raw speakers, and that it still falls short of Windows, where Dolby's dialog enhancer and virtualizer clean up vocals.
Version 4.0.6 is the latest release.
