One MacBook Pro runs a model on a Radeon card
Joshua Warren said he plugged an AMD Radeon RX 7600 into a MacBook Pro over Thunderbolt, and that on Omarchy the driver loaded, Vulkan came up, and llama.cpp ran "Qwen2.5-7B" on the card.
He said a second test, on another MacBook Pro, used an Intel card in a Sonnet 850, and that the 850 came right up in Linux on Apple Silicon after patching some kernel issues linking the card over PCIe.
Warren said Apple extremely restricted eGPUs, external graphics cards, on Apple Silicon, and that Intel and NVIDIA GPUs are next.
