NVIDIA N1x laptops gain runtime support
Pull request 14820, merged into quattro, brings runtime support for the ASUS ProArt P14 and the Dell XPS 16, both NVIDIA N1x laptops. Ryan R. Hughes wrote that NVIDIA's open driver is now on edge. The merge is not in version 4.0.4.
The pull request describes ACPI-only aarch64 machines with a MediaTek MT8901 processor complex and an NVIDIA GB20B GPU, running linux-omarchy for aarch64. Hughes wrote that the change also brings Snapdragon and NVIDIA GB10 platform work already on the branch. The Dell, the pull request says, loses its headset microphone, which NVIDIA does not declare on that board.
The pull request says the firmware reserves 4 GiB for the GPU, instead of the kernel reclaiming the 62.5 GiB it set aside for Windows. USB4 and Thunderbolt docks are approved through quattro's Thunderbolt authorization. On the ProArt P14, media keys sit on the top row.
Hughes wrote that an N1x installer image built from this branch installs unattended in a virtual machine and reaches Hyprland with no failed units. He wrote that on a ProArt P14 the machine was detected as an N1x, suspend was at about 0.77 W with a clean resume, and a dock drove two monitors through unplug and replug. Hughes opened and merged the change.
