Omarchy's kernel boots a Yoga Slim 7x in an n1x merge
Pull request 14952 merges boot files for linux-omarchy-n1x, Omarchy's own ARM kernel, on the n1x branch. birkskyum wrote that a Yoga Slim 7x reached the desktop. The merge is not in version 4.0.4.
Arch Linux ARM's kernel builds the Snapdragon X drivers into the kernel and translates device memory access by default. Omarchy's kernel builds those drivers as modules and defaults to letting devices reach memory directly. birkskyum wrote that on a Yoga Slim 7x, the early boot image lacked the pin, power, and bus drivers. He wrote that with those added, the keyboard was found, but its device description came back empty, so the disk password prompt had no keyboard.
The merged Snapdragon setup names 23 drivers for that early image. Each is optional, so a kernel without one still builds. It also sets the kernel parameter iommu.passthrough=0, which turns that direct memory path off, and it prefers device trees that come with Omarchy's kernel. birkskyum wrote that on kernel 7.2.8-1 the parameter was the only change between a boot with no keyboard and one with a keyboard.
birkskyum wrote that linux-omarchy-n1x 7.2.8-4 reached the desktop on a Yoga Slim 7x, with the keyboard, touchpad, touchscreen, panel, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, both digital signal processors, and sound working. He wrote that an install, where the installer runs these steps, is still to be done. The merge is on n1x, not on quattro. birkskyum opened and merged the pull request.
