Version 4.5.0-rc3 is a release candidate
Version 4.5.0-rc3 is a release candidate, not a final release. Omarchy 4.5 is the first feature release since Quattro, and the notes say to run it on a test machine or keep a working backup before upgrading a machine you depend on.
The notes say to expect bugs, rough edges, and the occasional thing that breaks outright. On an existing machine the route is Update > Channel > RC, then Update > Omarchy.
Omarchy 4.5 speaks 50 languages, gives every monitor its own workspaces, includes floating workspaces with a dock, and ships Hype, Monologue, Signed, and Disktree. It runs on NVIDIA N1x and Snapdragon X laptops.
Limine waits 1 second instead of about 6 and boots quietly. Keep tapping any key, the down arrow included, while the machine starts, and it stops at the menu. The Apple Silicon installer covers M1, M2, M3, and Neo. The candidate asks before turning on Touch ID on Apple Silicon Macs.
Some shortcuts moved.
Shortcuts that moved
- Calculator: Super + Shift + Q. It was Super + Ctrl + Q.
- Activity: Super + Shift + T, and Super + Ctrl + T opens themes.
- Network: Super + Ctrl + N, and Super + Ctrl + W opens backgrounds.
- Nightlight: It is in Trigger > Toggle. The shortcut was Super + Ctrl + N.
- Dock apps: Super + Alt + Space opens Apps from the dock instead of the Apps menu.
The F1 installer unpacks a prebuilt root image, with this machine's packages on top, instead of about 940 packages one by one.
