The NVIDIA driver forces a VT switch around every suspend and resume, so Hyprland drops the seat and every input device is removed and added again. When the keyboard goes away, the lock window's active focus item is cleared, and nothing had set it back.
David Heinemeier Hansson checked a VT round trip while locked, then typing the password without the mouse: it unlocks. He had not checked the blank after a real lid close.
