Hyprland on x86 skips the realtime slot that kills the compositor
Hyprland 0.57 on x86 skips rtkit's 200 ms realtime slot, which was getting the compositor killed, under a change merged into quattro that sets HYPRLAND_NO_RT to 1. The notes say to remove the switch once the realtime watchdog kills are fixed.
Hyprland 0.57 on x86 gets a realtime slot from rtkit, capped at 200 ms. One slow kernel call on the main thread, a monitor probe, a wake from DPMS off, or a busy Xwayland game, crosses that cap, and the kernel kills the compositor before its fallback can run. A change merged into quattro sets HYPRLAND_NO_RT to 1 in the uwsm session defaults, the switch Hyprland reads to skip the realtime request.
shawnyeager ran the same export on an XPS 14. Hyprland had six silent deaths the day before, and none since, across two idle wakes, two Thunderbolt display hotplugs, and two Steam game launches.
PipeWire keeps its realtime. This change is the compositor. The notes say to remove the switch once the realtime watchdog kills are fixed. A user who wants the slot can set HYPRLAND_NO_RT to 0, which Hyprland treats as unset.
