Menu webcam check can skip opening the camera
A change merged into quattro can skip opening the device when a udev capture record already answers yes for the menu's webcam row, and otherwise asks the devices exactly as before.
The menu's webcam row runs on every menu open. The notes put that wake at about 2.6 s awake and 125 ms per call on the GA605KM.
A virtual camera with no parent device still gets the live query, because udev records the node once and the record can be stale. A node with no udev record, and a machine with no udev database, also go to the live query.
