Gaming installers request GPU libraries before the launcher
Pull request 16046, merged into quattro, runs the GPU library helper before Lutris and Battle.net install umu-launcher. zihaomu wrote that, when the matching 32-bit Vulkan driver is absent, umu-launcher can resolve its lib32-vulkan-driver dependency to an NVIDIA package on an AMD or Intel machine.
zihaomu wrote that when the matching 32-bit Vulkan driver is absent, installing umu-launcher with --noconfirm can resolve its lib32-vulkan-driver dependency to an NVIDIA package on an AMD or Intel machine. He wrote that Lutris and Battle.net currently install umu-launcher before calling the GPU library helper.
The pull request says omarchy-install-gaming-gpu-lib32 runs before package installation in both installers, following the existing Steam order, and that a driver installation failure stops the installer before the application dependencies are installed.
zihaomu wrote that a real game installation was not performed. He wrote that, in a read-only resolver comparison on a Radeon 8060S machine, umu-launcher alone selected lib32-nvidia-580xx-utils, and that requesting lib32-vulkan-radeon alongside it avoided NVIDIA packages.
