Release candidate 4.5.0-rc1 is a pre-release ISO for x86 and ARM
The Omarchy account said version 4.5.0-rc1 is a pre-release ISO for x86 and ARM, and is on the RC channel. The release notes say it is not a final release, and to try it with Update > Channel > RC, then Update > Omarchy.
The notes say this is the release candidate for Omarchy 4.5, the first feature release since Quattro. They say it brings new, enhanced notifications, Omarchy in 50 languages, per-monitor workspaces, floating workspaces with a dock, a new Appearance menu, theme intros, and a round of speed-ups from boot to theme switching. They say to expect bugs, rough edges, and the occasional thing that breaks outright, and to run it on a test machine or to have a working backup.
The notes say a language is picked under Setup > Language, or by running omarchy language with a language code. They say the menu, desktop, and Omarchy's notifications switch immediately, and the system locale follows on next login. David Heinemeier Hansson wrote that Omarchy is in Chinese, Japanese, and 48 other languages, complete with input methods to match.
The notes say the ASUS ProArt P14 and Dell XPS 16 with NVIDIA N1x run Omarchy on the aarch64 Omarchy kernel and NVIDIA's open driver. They say Snapdragon X laptops such as the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x and ThinkPad T14s run Omarchy on its own aarch64 kernel. They say Omarchy Mac used to be a separate fork, and that its shared hardware and desktop support now lives in Omarchy itself, with only the boot setup left in the Omarchy Mac packages.
The notes say Super + 1-0 goes to the workspaces of the monitor you are on, and that each monitor's bar shows only its own. They say Super + L cycles a workspace between dwindle tiling, scrolling, and floating. They say that on a floating workspace every window floats with a titlebar in the theme's colors, and that a dock shows pinned apps, everything running, and a grid of every app.
The notes say notifications stack by sender, and that this grew out of the Omapager plugin, which is now built into Omarchy.
The notes say Limine's menu wait drops from about six seconds to one, boot is silent, and pressing any key during boot reaches the menu. They say to install on new machines with the ISO, and they list x86_64 and aarch64, each with a SHA256. Ryan R. Hughes wrote that Omarchy 4.5 Quattro RS is ready for testing.
