aarch64 defaults to stable except Apple Silicon
emirb wrote, in pull request 16065 merged into quattro, that every aarch64 platform except Apple Silicon now defaults to stable. emirb wrote that pkgs.omarchy.org/stable/aarch64 serves version 4.0.6 “until 4.5.0 ships”.
emirb wrote that every aarch64 install ended up on edge, whatever ISO it came from, because the default channel returned edge on every ARM platform and the post-install step fell back to edge for a release-candidate or stable install. emirb wrote that an install from the “4.5.0rc1” aarch64 ISO, for example, moves to edge on its first update.
emirb wrote that every aarch64 platform except Apple Silicon now defaults to stable, and that Apple Silicon keeps edge templates alone because its packages and Asahi ALARM are published for edge only. He wrote that machines already on edge stay on edge until someone picks a channel.
emirb wrote that once this reaches edge, choosing Stable in the menu would put an ARM machine on version 4.0.6 before “4.5.0” ships. He wrote to land it with the 4.5 rc that becomes the release, so that window is the rc's days.
