Node waits for the first command on a fresh install
Pull request 15876, merged into quattro, stops setup from installing Node. The pull request says the first node, npm, or npx call installs it.
The pull request says Node joins Omarchy's lazy mise defaults. It says the file /etc/mise/conf.d/omarchy-tools.toml declares it like gh or uv, and setup does not install it. It says the first npm: tool, such as cf or kimi, or a Mason package that needs Node, also installs it.
The pull request says Node became a default in 3.1 so LazyVim's tree-sitter could run tree-sitter generate. It says nvim-treesitter main generates from grammar.json with TREE_SITTER_JS_RUNTIME=native, so no parser LazyVim installs needs Node anymore.
The pull request says setup stops writing ~/.config/mise/config.toml, so a fresh install has none. It says two migrations drop what setup wrote. It says a pinned Node, or a different auto-prune value, stays.
The pull request says an offline first use of Node needs the network. It says the ISO still bundles the Node tarball, now unused. It says omarchy-iso pull request 290 removes it, and has to wait until this change is in every channel the ISO builds from.
