A blanked lock pauses the fingerprint reader
Pull request 15294, merged into quattro, holds the fingerprint reader back once the lock blanks the displays. The pull request says a finger alone does not unlock while the display is off. The merge is not in version 4.0.4.
The lock had kept a fingerprint check running for the whole time the session was locked, and a timer ran throughout to notice sleep. The pull request says that kept the reader awake all night, even with the displays off.
Once the lock blanks the displays, it holds back the next attempt. A key, the touchpad, a password attempt, or a display arriving starts the reader again. The pull request says that in the first few seconds after locking, after waking the screen, or after a resume, a finger works as before.
The pull request says the manual's fingerprint section says to wake the screen first while the display is off. A display woken by a volume or brightness key the lock never sees keeps the reader paused until a key or a pointer move reaches the lock. David Heinemeier Hansson opened and merged the change.
