Floating workspaces gain a dock
Floating workspaces gain a dock of pinned and running apps in pull request 15263, merged into quattro. A later Omarchy account post said the option is on the Dev channel, and that Dev breaks from time to time. The merge is not in version 4.0.4.
The dock shows only while a workspace is floating, and it hides when that workspace switches to a tiled or scrolling layout. Pinned apps come first, then running ones. A click brings a window forward, and another click cycles. Middle-click opens a new window. Appearance, then Dock, sets Dock Position and chooses Auto-hide Dock or Always-on Dock. The default pins are Files, Chromium, Foot, Omacalc, Omawrite, X, and YouTube.
A window opening on a floating workspace floats from its first frame. The merged change puts a minimize button on titlebars, and Super + M minimizes the focused window. Minimized windows return from the dock. Pull request 15271 turns titlebars on when a workspace starts floating, including after a reload that had nothing floating.
Pull request 15266 gives every workspace without windows the new default layout, including one not opened yet. A workspace that still has windows keeps its layout. Pull request 15267 stops that reset when the workspace list cannot be read.
The Omarchy account said the option is per workspace or global, and that it comes with Alt+Tab, minimization, and left, right, top, and bottom positioning. A follow-up post said it is available on the Dev channel, and that Dev breaks from time to time. Mihai said it is currently in dev, as a preview, and that it will reach edge and then stable when finished. David Heinemeier Hansson opened and merged the dock into quattro.
