The bar no longer stalls on startup across six monitors
On a six-monitor machine, pull request 11015 says the stock bar took about 30 seconds after launch to fill in, and a shell restart could leave no bar. The fix merged into quattro.
The pull request says a full layout, 23 widgets on each bar, spent 16 to 20 seconds of processor time registering click targets. The cost grew with the number of monitors. The pull request says tearing the bar down took 5.4 to 6 seconds on that machine, and the restart script gave that only 5 seconds before starting a new shell that then quit.
Ownership lookups are now direct, and the plugin resync is coalesced into one pass per turn. The same pull request says that on that machine the bar then populated in about 1.7 seconds, and teardown fell to about 1.2 seconds.
The GitHub user silversword411 opened pull request 11015, and David Heinemeier Hansson merged it.
