The image picker stays responsive, and sharp on dense screens
Omarchy's image picker no longer builds a card for every theme, and its previews stay sharp on high-density screens. Pull request 14117 and 14156 merged into quattro.
With hundreds of themes, the picker created a layered card for every row and decoded nearby images immediately. On a cold thumbnail cache it also started one converter per image, which can stall the shell.
It now draws the visible slices plus one prefetch slice on each side, and never more than 33 cards. Thumbnails are prepared in one shared pool: one worker on a single- or dual-core machine, and at most two on a larger one.
The tests covered 200, 530, and 10,000 rows. The GitHub user keylimesoda opened pull request 14117, and Bjarne Øverli merged it.
A follow-up asks for the card's physical pixels. At 200 percent scale the picker was requesting 768 by 475 pixels for a card that occupies 1,536 by 950. Pull request 14156, which Øverli opened and merged, uses the display's pixel ratio. Text looked sharper in the live shell at that scale.
